Meet Dr. Zachary Preefer

My fascination with the medical field and doctor’s offices began at a young age. That early curiosity became a calling as I watched my mother navigate her own chronic pain journey with both strength and vulnerability. It gave me an acute awareness of how chronic pain shapes a person’s world—and the family’s world. I saw firsthand the profound impact of the doctors who guided her therapies and how life-changing the right medical support could be. Ever since, I’ve dreamt of opening my own pain management clinic!

Today, I carry that insight into every aspect of my work as a pain medicine physician. As an anesthesiologist, I bring rigorous clinical expertise and precision to the complex treatment of chronic pain. My background allows me to safely offer advanced therapies that are often unavailable in traditional clinics.

I believe in treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and honoring the roles that loved ones, communities, and environments play in the healing process. My goal is to help each patient define what a meaningful life looks like to them—and to equip them with the tools, treatments, and support to make that life possible.

Dr. Preefer has been practicing independently as an anesthesiologist since September 2023, bringing a personalized, patient-first approach to every case.

I find joy in experiencing interactive art, exploring the world through cooking and travel, and spending time outdoors. I’m also passionate about technology—both using it and staying curious about its evolution. When I am able to support organizations, I prefer to contribute my time and energy directly. I’m especially committed to community health initiatives, particularly those that reach and uplift at-risk populations.
